The Eilean Donnan Castles

Eilean Donan Castles, the most iconic images of Scotland was situated on an Island at the point where three great sea Lochs meet, this places are one of the most visited and important attraction in the Scottish highlands.
First inhibited around the 6th century, the castles was first built in the mid 13th century and stood guard over the lands of Kintail.the Eilean Donan partially destroyed in a jacobite uprising in 1719, but it lay ruins the best part of 200 years until Liutenant Colonel John MacRae - Gilstap bought the islands in 1911 and proceeded to restore the castles to its glory. After 20 years years of toil and labour the castles was re-opened in 1932.
Today, the castles has it own visitor centre, which includes the Ticket Office, Coffee Shop, Gift Shop, and toilets.

Glenfinnan

The Glenfinnan monument was built by Alexander MacDonald Glenadale in memory of all the clansmen who had fought the for the cause. The tower is now in the custody of the National Trust for Scotland amd a visitor Centre which only open from April to October. this places famous for its viaduct carry the railway across the Glenfinnan Station where the Railway Museum transport the visitor back to land of steam trains. This picturesque railway station was sold by the British Rail years agoand now restored with the original chalet style buildings and railway coaches, it offers a fascinating display of memory of those bygone days.
in the summer months, the Jacobite steam engine runs from here to Fort William and Mallaig and ordinary trains are available the rest of the year. The line from Glasgow reached Fort William in1894 but was only extend to Mallaig in 1901 and now considered to be among the finest railway journeys in the world which offering a perspective of scenery not available by road.
the special about this viaduct was because of the famous concrete viaduct at Glenfinnan and Loch Nan Uamh which designed by thre famous rail and road enginee, Robert McAlpine or known as the Concrete Bob. the viaduct at Glenfinnan carries the trains across a 1000-feet span, 100 feet above the ground. the Loch Nan Uamh viaduct holds the remains of a horse and cart which fell into the concrete structure before it set.
Filming the second and the third Harry Potter books, 'Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secret' and 'Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' took place in September 2001 and in 2003/4 with Hogswart Express calling at the Glenfinnan.
