False Justification

I personally consider myself an Existentialist, strongly believing that Existence precedes Essence. A man can easily differentiate between what is right and what is wrong. This differentiation is done by using one’s brain, and by seeing, observing and adapting to the norms of the society one lives in. Therefore, it is safe to assume that a man exists first, realizes who he is, knows and adapts to the world, and then makes a place for himself in it – that would be his essence. Whatever decisions or actions one takes, he is solely responsible for it. Therefore, if one decides to commit something wrong, it goes to show where his morals & values lies, and that he is responsible for it.

People know what is wrong and what is right, and I personally think everyone strives to be the best person out there…in their own way. This ‘own way’ is what creates the problems. I have witnessed so far in my short life, that people are highly capable to falsely justify their actions to be morally and ethically correct, even though they are just plainly wrong. By doing these justifications, they somehow make themselves believe that what they did is completely right, put the blame of their wrong actions on others, and once they start believing that, all they have to do is make others believe in that ‘truth’ too. There can be two reasons for this, the first one being that everyone is extremely smart to do this type of feat quite effectively, or the second one being that one does not have a strong conscience. I believe that the latter is true unfortunately.

It seems like that everyone has this outwardly face that they have created and reserved for the entire world to see, however, everyone has a dark side hiding inside them waiting to be unleashed at the most inopportune times when the person becomes weak enough to carry on the façade he has created, any longer. Sometimes this dark side can take a person to unmatched heights of gaining power, but for many of them it is the cause of their doom in life.

Yeah ok, perhaps this inspires you for a total of 1.4675 seconds.
But still, I’ve come to realise that many situations in life can be dealt with differently just by changing your perspective a little. Sure, it’s not easy and it’s probably harder to do – but if makes things
better in the long run, then why not?

Writing ....

Writing is used for so many different reasons in life. A person can write to express themselves in creative ways.
Or to vent their everyday frustrations and anger within negative situations. And writing is a tool that therapists
often use, as a therapeutic means for healing, with their patients. Also, writing can be used to protest wrongs
within society. Or to cheer up a friend or make someone smile.

There are plenty of ways of writing too. There’s the traditional way, of pen to paper, of scribbling in a notebook
or journal. Also “snail-mail”, handwritten letters sent back and forth between friends, relatives, or lovers.
In the electronic age, there are emails and cellphone texting. There are forums and social networking sites,
where people are writing up a storm to each other in posts. And of course there is blogging, one person expressing
there likes and dislikes (or whatever), much like this site. ;-)

There are also books being published and magazine articles being written, in the professional world of writing,
everyday.

No matter how or on what form of media a person choose to write, there are billions of people writing everyday.
And the reasons for why people choose to write are many. Sometimes the reasons are common, but sometimes not.

My reasons for writing is simple… I have been writing,
since the age of nine, when my fourth grade teacher first showed me how to put my words onto paper.
I’ve told this story a million times, whenever a person asks, “Why do you write so much?” All I can answer is,
I’ve been writing since I was a little girl, I loved it and never stopped loving it, so I continue to do it. It’s a
part of me. I have no grand aspirations for it, other than to enjoy grabbing my thoughts and imagination from my
head, and splattering them into black and white. It makes me happy and it’s a nice hobby of mine. ;-)

I never wanted to grow up and be a writer, to be honest. Writing has always been something that I enjoy doing,
but I had no desire to make into a profession. I wanted (and still wish it) to be an FBI Agent, working in the
division of bringing lost and missing children back home to their families. That was the professional career
that I’ve always wanted, to work in law enforcement to protect children. But my life didn’t quite work out in
that way…

Still, my writing is my solace and my way to express myself. I am “opinionated” and a lot of times people don’t
listen to me in person, talking right over me, ignore what I have to say. I write so that my thoughts and ideas
are not lost to me. I sometimes come back to this blog, to read over what I had written any given day, to hear
myself within the roaring sea of my life. I don’t write for an audience, to gain fame or popularity, or to please
the masses. I write for me and maybe to make my friends and family laugh. I can be a ham, if I know they’re reading!
Hi, mom! ;-)

I have added this blog to a FaceBook page, not to gain more readers. In fact,
I almost backed out of making that page and if I get a bit overwhelmed by traffic,
I can tear it down whenever I wish to. I had realized that even though I write this blog for me, me, and me,
many others have been visiting for a while now. These are strangers from all over the world and all over the US,
as my blog stats reports have it. They are respectful and silent, reading and returning to read, not leaving
a comment or making a big deal out of my random posts. Which I appreciate! Loud noises and sudden movements
tend to startle this squirrel. :-o

But, I realized that I couldn’t keep this site hidden for long.
And the more I try to, the more popular it may become, like a underground cult following of some sort.
So, I might as well put it out there a little and make it a little less special! :-p

HOWEVER, I’m still writing this blog for me only. I’m not going to hire proof-readers, change up my usual
randomness, or writing patterns to suit an audience. My posts will continue to have some bad grammar slips
and stay on my usual rantings, thoughts, and ideas as always. But, the frequency will have to change a bit.
Last season, I had a habit of posting here Monday-Friday. And I thought about going back to doing that,
come spring, but no. Even when my muse (my best friend) comes back, I simply won’t have the time to spend
writing in my blog as much, because I’m trying to get my life into shape. I’m not getting any younger and I
can’t be a slacker forever. So, for some weeks, I may go on a writing binge of Monday-Friday posts. And for
some weeks, there may be only one or two posts. Or no posts for a few weeks. It depends on my mood or what
exactly I feel compelled to share, at any given moment. So, this blog itself will be randomly written. ;-)

But back to my first point, writing can be a lot healing and self-satisfying. And there is only a few wrong
ways of using this tool. It’s important to remember that line from the movie “The Social Network”… That when
you write on the internet, what you write is in pen, not pencil. You can’t erase what you’ve expressed and it’s
stuck out there for good. So, I try to make sure that what I write is something that I don’t mean or something
that I’ll regret later. The opinions expressed here are my true ones and not subject to change.

And if I do change my mind on something, I’ll be sure to post that. But… don’t hold your breath. ;-)

'K' Stands for Kundasang ! Part II

Okay, so another post about 'K'. Well the next day of the trip which on Dec 19th, 2010....hm ~ nothing much happen. It's 7.05am and Gerard cell phone started to ring out loud makes me want to crash it with my cold bare hand( but no, to lazy for that of course...early in the morning I supposed) when I look out the window, Mala and Esther has already wake up from their bed and I heard something from them but not really clear....oh well whatever ~~

I straightly went to the bathroom to have my morning shower and the water at first was really COLD like ICE!! BRRRrrrr....Then suddenly the water turns out became really hot and I was really shock. As if I was bathing in hot boiled water. God this really killing me. I don't care and no choice but just straightly had to continue bathing. The bathroom situated in front of the Livingroom and when I went out lucky for me there was only my sister watching her favourite T.V show and perhaps just ignore me. I just smiled silently....(crazy...)

Later I found out that our friend Mr John Chin actually in early morning he was knocking each and everyones room with an intention to invite us go for a jog around the area...okay. FYR, the place that we stay ws really like ....maybe 20 minutes away from another stay-in or villa by car.... Well I'm to damn tired all those trip on the previous day.
Maybe next time...

Here's the map

I don't don't really exactly know about the entire area was but I'm pretty sure it was like this ...( pretty ugly huh..) Oh well looks like he had to do it alone I guest. Then my friend Esther, calling us for breakfast from the next door. But unfortunately not everyone was ready so I and my twins go with her to the Villa's main cafeteria and sat down searching for the waiter or waitress. American breakfast anyone? Just what I need to strengthen my weak energy ( ...the taste of sausage kinda like " off Beat"?)

Everyone was looks very tired during those hour and sleepy too! How I wish I had a camera so I can capture every funny moment when we were there. Since we had to pay for the transportation, we had to prepared some expenses so the bus driver would take us all back to K.K ( our home sweet home). Since it was going to rain that day, Mr J.C said that he had to cancelled our trip to Kinabalu National Park and when I heard that I was quite sad though because this were my first trip to Kundasang and I don't get the chance to visit some places that I want to go. That's okay but still dissapointed...

Mr J.C might trying to cheer everyone but stopping by at the edge of high hill 30 minutes from the villa's. Funny thing when we made it at the hill everyone was taking picture together and leave Mr J.C behind ....hahaha poor him ~
10 minutes break and we finally take off to K.K, right where we belong!!

Trivia
- At first, everyone felt that this trip might not as good as the previous trip
- On our way to Kundasang, we came accross to accident where one which a car overturned and a truck that skidded off street, everyone was suprised but not the bus driver
- At poring, I saw a boy peeing in a pool which I think and feel bad for all the tourist who went inside the same pool
- That night, our dinner was chicken barbeque marinated with chicken sauce and such but funny things are...the taste seem a little bit sour!! Everyone thought it was the 'chef' fault but actually it's not
- Mr J.C saw a wooden insect which makes  me screamed  out  loud and  was   really shock! Well he teach me and   Gary Ting on how to get closer with the nature but Ting VS me, congratulation Gary Ting, you've won ( I run..)
- Same time at night, everyone was trilled with happy hour I supposed but we played the game called 'Truth or dare' turned out it was not really that fun at all
- Next visit to the hill, when everyone was ready for photo shoot with beautiful view at our back, later afterwards. the  very  strong wind and  misty  mist coming out from nowhere suddenly cover the view which makes everyone gone mad!! Mr J.c don't know what to do...

And yes, that's the end of the trip ~ Well pretty exciting huh?

'K' Stands for KUNDASANG! Part I

Date:
18th - 19th December 2010

Place:
Kundasang, Desa Farm, Kundasang War Memorial, Hot Spring

Trip's members:
Esther Donny, Judy Bea Wong(Judy), Georgianne George (Jojo), Sharon Lentz, Azmi, Gary Ting Kha King (Ting), Noralawaiyah (Mala), Fransisca Robert, Gerard Jerome (J.j), Siti Fatimah (Fatim), Siti Sahara (sara), Al-Nasdin ( Nash)

Dec 18th Day of the trip
Really a "blockbuster" trip for me coz it was my first time having a trip to Kundasang with my twins and all my friends. Well to be honest, me and my twin ever did a trip to Kundasang. Yup not even with our family as financial crisis always landed in our family.
Okay, first thing me and my twins do was ....of course waiting for others to come but since we come at 5:30am in the morning, we went to coffeeshop nearby and have a little hot drinks and talk about what we're going to do when we reach our destination. The departure time for this trip was actually at 7:30am but turned out that after waiting the others to come ( who's late...) we finally depart at 9:30am. Great! What a waste of time.

There's only about 13 people going to this trip which include the 2 of us. We're really excited as the scenery was really amazing! So all the remaining hour inside the van we busy admiring the beauty of nature and have fun moment together. The bus driver told us that Mount Kinabalu has it own uniqueness, legends and superstitious. He said that the early Kadazan/Dusun also used to believe that when a person dies, the soul will go up to Mount Kinabalu for R.I.P. It is therefore advisable that whenever one wants to climb the mountain, an offering must be made to the ‘pogigion’ or those dwellers around Kinabalu or something bad will befall on you ( Hmm...really?). I don't know about that but my mom used to told me not to say anything about going up there because the sprit would come to know of my intention and something terrible might happen.
“When you are climbing,” she said, “You must walk silently. Do not pluck anything or those dwellers will follow you home and make you sick”.
( mom used to climb the mmountain too)

My friend, Nash ( Al-Nasdin) were an international student ( from Philipines) was really excited after hearing about the tradition in Sabah, well since this was his first time too! Well I'm not really believe in superstitious or such but sometimes it's really attach to your way of living....sort of Karma I guest. So we stop for a while in Pekan Nabalu for short break and anyone who wish for photoshoot are welcome here.

First destination Poring Hot Spring which located approximately 47KM away from Kinabalu National Park passing through Kundasang and Ranau and guest what...the name Poring, stands for the tall bamboo plant that is abundant in that area. Whoa! Well since it's holiday, the place was really crowded with kids, tourist and of course teens like me....God, Save me!
What I don't like about that place during the were some old men with a bunch of kids who act like as if they were single again. Yikes! And a Korean mom yelling at her children which I think " poor kid". Some of our friends ( Judy and Esther)went for a swim, Gary Ting and Nash....I don't know where they going, Jojo, Lentz, and Azmi ...well eating lunch I guest. And lastly me and my twins with other 3 friends ( Mala, Fransisca, and Gerard) went to stroll the entire area of swimming pool.( Google the place you know the swimming area was not the kind that you got at home.
We manage take a few photo's

Well I can say was the first destination was not really a great place but pretty amazing though.

.....
Are you there? Okay.

On our next trip to 2nd destination, we stop by at a small market near Ranau to buy some goodies for us. And by goodies I mean food for vegan and non-vegan. So fresh and delicious too. Oh did I mention that we went there by using 2 van instead of 1? Yup, now you know.
Alright, another pit stops for us was near the Kundasang War Memorial ....we had to wait for another 6. While we wait, I notice that the place was getting colder and colder but the scenery was really great. And better I tell you! So many pine tree grew over here which are rare in South East Asia.15 minutes of waiting finally they arrived. Then my friend, Mala suggest that we better go to top of the hill where there's another tourist attraction which are the Desa Dairy Farm Kundasang. I was like ....WHAT!! But this place really a great place and I myself recommend you guys readers to go there if you have some time.

Desa Dairy Farm - the largest in Sabah with an area of 199 hectares, is located at the Mesilau Plateau, Kundasang about 30 minutes drive from Mt.Kinabalu National Park. The green meadows stretching all over the area was so refreshing at 2100 meters above sea level. We arrived just in time for the milking process. Hundreds of cows were rounded up for milking.

It was amazing that to see cows lining up or rather queuing up to the milking station without being guided. They knew exactly what to do!
And for the record, not just cows, but you also can see horses in here too!

My friends bought a few packages of this milk for home

Yes of course we take some picture of us

That's all of us hehehe

Look at those cows at the back...HA! they surely had good time too!

After a good long hours in Desa Dairy Farm and a few photos, we went back down the hill and directly toward the 3rd stop in our trip which are and finally the Kundasang War Memorial. The Kundasang War memorial was split into 4 garden - the Australian Garden, the English Garden, the Borneo Garden and the Contemplation Garden Pool.

Check it out!

Joyful moment

Before I continue, please grab some snack and drinks and enjoy the post. During the day we had so much fun, everyone was tired, so we went to our place of stay which are D'Villa Rina Ria Lodge, Kinabalu Park ~ Kundasang...That place was really COLD!! Okay I'm a girl who live in a tropic country and going to somewhere cold really doesn't suits me well...(Mommyyyy...) Ngeh...guest no choice after all.

Same room with my twins sister, we're very lucky our bed are much bigger than the 3 of our friends..hehehehe
Dinners was prepared by our friend Gary Ting, who handles all the chicken and sausages helped by Azmi, hmm...loyal friends I guest. Poor Gary Ting that he had to face the heat as well.
Ha ~ when everybody was preparing for dinner, suddenly our lecturer a.k.a friend pop out in the middle of us and I was really suprised when I look at him. They said he's been cycling from K.K to Kundasang. WHOA!!
And yes we had dinner together, jokes, drinks, and everything... really fun though. Usually the only entertainment for me was reading books and singing inside my bedroom but actually it take more than that. Thanks to all my friends. Joy moment will not last forever but the memories surely does. Me and my twins went to bed at 1:30am in the morning.
